Sometimes in fiction, we read a passage and it’s so bizarre that we’re not quite sure what to make of it. In Thunderstorms and .45s, one of those scenes involves a Dodge Stratus. Why a Dodge Stratus? Dodge Stratus’ weren’t particularly good looking cars. They didn’t scream power, and they were only made from 1995 to 2006. In fact, their styling resembled the Saturn’s, which were available during the same timeframe.
The Dodge Stratus was manufactured as either a 2-door Coupe or a 4-door Sedan. It wasn’t a particularly expensive car, and it certainly wasn’t a luxury car. It got you from point A to point B fairly reliably.
Given the fact that we know Avia is wealthy, why would she drive a Dodge Stratus from Florida to Michigan? She has to have other vehicles that are nicer, more comfortable and get better gas mileage. Yet, in the opening scene, we can see her and Victor leaving a dodge Stratus on the side of the road.
Just why did she choose that car? Tell us in the comments. Better yet, see if you can figure it out in the text...
